SENEGAL NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

The Senegal national football team (French: Équipe nationale de football du Sénégal) represents Senegal in men’s international football and is governed by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). Senegal is a member of CAF(Confederation of African Football) and FIFA, competing in both African and global tournaments.

Nicknamed The Lions of Teranga (Les Lions de la Teranga), after the Senegalese concept of hospitality, the team plays its home matches primarily at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor in Dakar. Senegal is known for its physicality, tactical discipline, and dynamic attacking style.

Senegal has qualified for the FIFA World Cup four times: 2002, 2018, 2022, and has emerged as one of Africa’s most competitive teams. Their best performance came in 2002, reaching the quarter-finals in their debut World Cup, famously defeating defending champions France in the opening match. In the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Senegal won their first title in 2021, after multiple runner-up finishes.
