PORTUGAL NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

The Portugal national football team (Portuguese: Seleção Portuguesa de Futebol) represents Portugal in men’s international football and is governed by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF; Federação Portuguesa de Futebol). Portugal is a member of UEFA and FIFA, competing in both European and global tournaments.

Nicknamed A Seleção (“The Selection”) or Os Navegadores (“The Navigators”), the team plays its home matches primarily at Estádio da Luz in Lisbon and Estádio do Dragão in Porto. Portugal is known for its technical skill, creative attacking play, and producing world-class talent.

Portugal has qualified for the FIFA World Cup eight times, achieving its best finish as third place in 1966. In the UEFA European Championship, Portugal won the tournament in 2016 and the UEFA Nations League in 2019, establishing itself as a major force in European football.

The national team has produced some of the world’s most iconic players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, and continues to develop talent through youth programs and domestic leagues.
