SWITZERLAND NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
The Switzerland national football team (German: Schweizer Fußballnationalmannschaft, French: Équipe de Suisse de football, Italian: Nazionale di calcio della Svizzera) represents Switzerland in men’s international football and is governed by the Swiss Football Association (SFV/ASF). Switzerland is a member of UEFA and FIFA, participating in both European and global competitions.
Nicknamed La Nati (“The National Team”), the team plays its home matches primarily at the Stade de Suisse in Bern and occasionally at other stadiums across the country. Switzerland is known for its disciplined, organized style of play, combining tactical efficiency with technical skill.
Switzerland has qualified for the FIFA World Cup 12 times, reaching the quarter-finals in 1934, 1938, and 1954. In the UEFA European Championship, Switzerland has consistently competed since the 1990s, reaching the quarter-finals in 2020 (held in 2021).
