The Egypt national football team (Arabic: منتخب مصر لكرة القدم) represents Egypt in men’s international football and is governed by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), the country’s official football authority. Nicknamed The Pharaohs, the team is historically one of Africa’s most successful football nations. Egypt has won the Africa Cup of Nations a record seven times (1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008, 2010) and has a strong tradition in regional competitions.
The Pharaohs have qualified for the FIFA World Cup three times: 1934, 1990, and 2018. The team is known for its disciplined defensive play, technical skill, and passionate fan base. Home matches are typically held at the Cairo International Stadium, which serves as the central venue for both major international fixtures and important domestic matches.
Egypt continues to nurture young talent through its youth teams, contributing players to professional leagues both domestically and abroad, and maintaining a proud footballing legacy as a powerhouse in African football.
