He came through the youth academy system at first NK Omladinac Vranjic, then — from 2010 to 2014 — at Hajduk Split.

He made his senior debut for Hajduk Split in 2014 at about 16–17 years old.

From Hajduk, his career path went to Everton F.C. (England) in 2017.

After a brief time at Everton, he was loaned (2018–2019) — then permanently transferred — to CSKA Moscow(Russia).
