Kayden Nelson is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a winger for Major League Soccer club Vancouver Whitecaps FC and represents the Canada national team.
Nelson speaks English and began playing soccer at age four with Brampton YSC, developing his skills from a young age. He grew up with a passion for soccer and also enjoys video games and music. His favourite players and clubs growing up included Ronaldinho, FC Barcelona, and Toronto FC, while he also followed athletes such as LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Internationally, Nelson has represented Canada at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil 2019. He was previously recognized by the Technical Study Group at the 2017 CONCACAF Boys’ Under-15 Championship as “a good player” for his standout performances.
At the club level, Nelson won the Canadian Championship (Voyageurs Cup) with Toronto FC from 2020 to 2022before joining Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Reflecting on his progress, Canada U-17 coach Andrew Olivieri said in 2019:
Jayden Nelson can be proud of the year he has had wearing the Canadian shirt. His talent is unmistakable and we can be excited that there are players like him coming through our system. He’s still a young man trying to establish his career for club and country, but he can be a role model for the young players coming up behind him because he’s that player that can impact a match across all four moments of the game and has the mindset and drive to get better at his craft every day.”
Nelson is known for his pace, technical skill, and ability to influence all phases of the game, making him a promising talent for both club and country.
