Jonathan Christian David is a professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Serie A club Juventus. Born in the United States, he represents the Canada national team.
David speaks French and English. Both of his parents—his father, Jean, and his mother, Rose—were born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. When he was three months old, his family moved from Brooklyn, New York, to Port-au-Prince, and later, at age six, relocated to Ottawa. He lost his mother to cancer at age 19.
He grew up playing soccer and began organized play at age 10 with the Gloucester Dragons Soccer Club. At 11, he joined Ottawa Gloucester SC’s Hornets program, where he was coached by Hanny El Magraby.
Growing up, his favourite players included Ronaldinho, Neymar, and Cristiano Ronaldo, and he supported FC Barcelona. He has also cited Kevin Durant among his favourite athletes.
He is a two-time Canada Soccer Player of the Year, earning the award in 2019 and 2024.
