James Pantemis is a Greek-Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Portland Timbers.

Pantemis speaks English, French, and Greek. He was born to a Montréal-based family; both his father, Nick, and his mother, Kelly, were born in Montréal. He grew up playing soccer and hockey and began organized soccer at age four with AS Pierrefonds. Off the field, he enjoys spending time with friends and family. Growing up, his favourite soccer players included Joe Hart, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo, while his favourite club was Manchester United. He also followed ice hockey stars Sidney Crosby and Steven Stamkos and supported the Montréal Canadiens.

At the club level, Pantemis won the Canadian Championship twice with CF Montréal (2019 and 2021) and currently plays for Portland Timbers in MLS. Internationally, he helped Canada win the Concacaf Final Round of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (2021–22).

Pantemis was also part of the Canada Soccer team that had a surprise visit from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on 15 November 2021 ahead of their FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match in Edmonton the following day.

He is known for his reflexes, composure under pressure, and leadership from the back, making him a key presence in goal for both club and country.
