NETHERLANDS NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
The Netherlands national football team (Dutch: Nederlandse voetbalelftal) represents the Netherlands in men’s international football and is governed by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). The team is a member of UEFA and FIFA, competing in both European and global competitions.
Nicknamed Oranje (“Orange”) after the Dutch royal family’s House of Orange-Nassau, the team is known for its distinctive orange kits and iconic attacking style of play, often referred to as Total Football. The Netherlands plays home matches at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam and other stadiums across the country.
The Dutch team has a rich footballing history, having reached the FIFA World Cup final three times (1974, 1978, and 2010) and finishing third in 2014. In the UEFA European Championship, the Netherlands won the tournament in 1988 and has frequently reached the later stages.
