The South Korea national football team (Korean: 대한민국 축구 국가대표팀) represents South Korea in men’s international football and is governed by the Korea Football Association (KFA). South Korea is a member of AFC(Asian Football Confederation) and FIFA, regularly competing in both continental and global tournaments.
Nicknamed the Taeguk Warriors, after the red and blue symbol on the South Korean flag, the team plays its home matches at several stadiums across the country, with Seoul World Cup Stadium being one of the primary venues. South Korea is renowned for its speed, technical skill, and high work rate, combining tactical discipline with dynamic attacking football.
South Korea has qualified for the FIFA World Cup eleven times, more than any other Asian nation, and achieved its best finish in 2002, reaching the semi-finals as co-hosts with Japan—the first Asian team to reach this stage. In the AFC Asian Cup, South Korea has won twice (1956 and 1960) and remains a consistent contender in Asian competitions.
The national team emphasizes youth development and domestic league performance to nurture talent capable of competing internationally. South Korean football is characterized by teamwork, resilience, and a passionate fan base, making it one of Asia’s most respected footballing nations.
