Iké Dominique Ugbo is a professional soccer forward who plays for EFL Championship club Sheffield Wednesday and represents the Canada national team. Born in England to a Nigerian father and French mother, he spent part of his childhood in Canada, moving to Brampton at age four before returning to London at age nine.
Ugbo developed his early soccer skills in Canada before joining Chelsea’s youth academy in England, where he was a two-time UEFA Youth League winner (2014–15, 2015–16). He has played professionally in Canada, England, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France, gaining experience across multiple top-level leagues. Internationally, Ugbo was part of the Canadian squad that won the CONCACAF Final Round of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in 2021–22 and had the memorable experience of meeting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ahead of a World Cup Qualifier in Edmonton in November 2021. Growing up, he drew inspiration from players like Thierry Henry and Ronaldo, as well as from Arsenal FC, and he is fluent in both English and French.
