Raheem Nathaniel Anfernee Edwards is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a left winger or wing-back for New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer.

Edwards speaks English and comes from a soccer family—his brother, Zachary Gowlett, also played competitively. He began playing soccer at age six with Erin Mills SC, where he developed his skills and passion for the game. Reflecting on his youth in 2017, Edwards said, “My childhood was great; I was playing for Erin Mills SC and I grew up playing against guys like Cyle Larin and Jordan Hamilton; it was just the greatest memories of all time: just being young and loving the sport so much is so awesome.”

He also shared insight into his competitive drive: “There’s always fun in the game, but I was always driven to be the best. The household that I grew up in was very competitive, so that was a part of me by nature. My older brother played soccer and I always wanted to prove that I was better than him. He always pushed me to be a better player.”

At the club level, Edwards has achieved multiple honours. With Toronto FC, he won the Canadian Championship (Voyageurs Cup) twice, in 2016 and 2017, as well as the MLS Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup in 2017. At the collegiate level, he won the CCAA Championship with Sheridan College in 2014.

Known for his pace, versatility, and work ethic, Edwards can operate both as an attacking winger and a defensive wing-back, making him a dynamic presence on the field.
