Tajon Trevor Buchanan is a Canadian professional football player who plays for La Liga club Villarreal and the Canada national team. Known for his speed and technical ability, he primarily features as a wide midfielder but can also be deployed as a full-back.
Buchanan speaks English. His mother, Geraldeen Taylor, was born in Jamaica and grew up in Brampton. He began playing soccer at age eight with Brampton YSC.
Internationally, he represented Canada at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He was part of Canada’s Concacaf-winning squad in the 2021–22 Concacaf Final Round of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, earned a Concacaf Silver Medal in the 2022–23 Nations League, and reached the semifinals at the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup. He also represented Canada at one CONMEBOL Copa América, helping the team finish fourth at USA 2024.
